Dance Feast Postcard | The New ODC Theater

The joint program of Kunst-Stoff and Levydance offered many a first experience as audience members in the new ODC Theater.  The place is a distinct beauty with exposed brick walls and a deep stage that invites big juicy movement from dancers.  The seating situates the audience close enough to catch it all with clear sight lines.

The works during this sensory evening used the space creatively, including rumblings from underneath the seats and whispers from several directions in the dark during Kunst-Stoff’s Rebetiko. Levydance’s impressive hanging lampshade clusters and rugs transformed the theater into a textured living room.  The transparent set change during intermission also allowed visitors to witness the inner workings of a theater. Live music created and performed by Kardash sent the place thumping rhythmically and at the conclusion of Levydance’s Our Body Remembers, soft tiny feathers floated into the audience.  The theater is now a living, breathing performance space.

Your next chance to check out the new ODC Theater is this weekend when Kunst-Stoff and Levydance return October 28-30.
